NYT's Thomas Friedman: 'Democrats paid off unions for votes'

Topics: Political News and commentaries

Buried in the ninth paragraph down in Democrat apologist Thomas Friedman's eleven paragraph op-ed is this amazing admission (amazing only in the fact that he actually put the admission in print):

Then let's look at the unions -- hardly paragons of sustainable thinking for the country. We all know they got more than their fair share in the General Motors settlement and in the Obama health care proposals because they could shake down the Democrats in return for votes.
As the WSJ notes, Democrats wouldn't have to pay partisan bribes had they, for example, chosen to write a less radical health care bill that could attract Republican votes. But then they would have had to pass something other than the health care bill that was nothing less than a destructive and unaffordable exercise in entitlement politics.
