Obama Sending Terrorist Detainees to Illinois Prison

It's a dangerous move, but no surprise. After all, it's Obama's token pay to his leftwing base for not pulling the troops out of Iraq and sending more troops to Afghanistan. In fact, it's beyond being dangerous to bring jihadists to American soil that are too dangerous to be released elsewhere, it's irrational, and defies common sense. What happens when they beat the courts and have to be released on American soil - which will no doubt happen? It's nothing less than importing jihadists to America.

Dan Calabrese's interview with Congressman Peter Hoekstra (R-Michigan), ranking Republican on the House Intelligence Committee, says much about why bringing the "worst of the worst" jihadists to American soil is a very bad idea.

And as Ed Morrissey points out, expect this to dramatically change the rules of the game.

Once the US brings these terrorists into the US, we can no longer hold them as unlawful combatants. If they manage to beat the courts -- not an unlikely scenario, given the fact that they were captured and not properly "arrested" -- they'll have to get released here in the US. After all, deporting them turns out to be a big problem, since no one else has been foolish enough to agree to let them into their country.
