CNN Poll: 61% of Americans Oppose Senate Health Care Bill

Topics: Political News and commentaries

Phillip Klein calls the poll results an unmitigated disaster for Democrats.

A Fox News poll has 57% of Americans opposing the health care legislation.

Small wonder, when most people think the reforms will cost them money, and nearly twice as many think the quality of their health care will be worse rather than better.

Nearly two-thirds of Americans (64%) think the reforms will cost them money, up from 58% who thought so previously (July 2009). Fewer than one in four people - 23% -- currently think the plan will save them money.
By 52% to 28%, Americans say the quality of health care their family receives would be worse under the proposed plan.

Among Democrats, 63% favor the health care reform legislation, while a large majority (87%) of Republicans and two-thirds of independents (66%) oppose it.

And Americans oppose Obamacare for good reason; data from the Joint Committee on Taxation shows that while a small set of middle-class earners will have to spend less on insurance premiums, over 68 million will have to pay more -- a lot more. Only a quarter of that number will see a net benefit
