D.C. Tea Party Up to 2 million?

Topics: Political News and commentaries

Some are claiming so, such as the Daily Mail (with interesting images such as this AP photo):

Michelle Malkin and Race 4 2012 have videos and images, and say the estimated number is up to 2 million. Race 4 2012 puts the estimate in context by noting that MLK's 'I have a Dream' speech attracted a crowd of 250,000.

Vodkapundit makes the case for 1 million or more (also has lots of images) and says that Barbara Espinoza actually metered (counted people) and that as of about noon Eastern, more than 450,000 people had walked by.

Fox cable just reported "tens of thousands" and the Fox News site reports that the 2 million number came from a Democratic House leadership aide playing an expectations game to claim the event was a failure.

I'm looking forward to a final estimate. By all accounts, any way you cut it, a hell of a lot of people showed up to protest against Obamacare and big government.

Update: ABC News actually has a decent article on the tea party, but estimates the number of participants at the level of tens of thousands.

Update2: After looking at AJ's images, I'm beginning to buy-in to an estimate of 1,000,000 (+).
