Committee Spars over Transparency of Health Care Legislation
Topics: Political News and commentariesTen Republicans and one Democrat - Arkansas Sen. Blanche Lincoln - voted for transparency and and a requirement that lawmakers post a cost-estimate and the legislation three days before they vote on it.
It was voted down by 12 Democrats, who argued that the Republicans were simply trying to delay the vote and that working off conceptual language made it easier to slog through tough issues.
Sounds like a lame excuse for keeping the public in the dark before a crucial vote affecting 1/6th or more of our nation's economy.
In other words: "Transparency? What transparency! We Dems don't need no stinkin' transparency!"
