'Not one single dime!'Topics: Political News and commentaries
In his first presidential speech to Congress, President Obama promised: "If your family earns less than $250,000 a year, you will not see your taxes increased a single dime. I repeat: not one single dime."
That was, of course, then, before our Know-Nothing-in-Chief began demonstrating that he had not even the sketchiest of a grasp of economics and initiated the largest government spending spree in U.S. History - and did so based on bogus budget arguments.
Now, with the largest deficit in history staring us in the face and foreign investors wary over the U.S. deficit, the administration has sent its financial heavyweights out on the weekend talk show circuit to prepare middle-class Americans of a potential tax increase as part of a health care overhaul.
No surprise, right! After all, the first signal that a middle-class tax increase was indeed coming came back in late June when Politico reported that Obama senior adviser David Axelrod, under persistent questioning from ABC's George Stephanopoulos, declined to restate Obama's "Not one single dime" pledge and and left open the possibility that the president might sign health care reform legislation that taxes high-cost, employer-provided insurance plans which some middle-class families currently receive tax free. From that, and the trial balloons sent out over the weekend from Obama's financial gurus, let the middle class stand forewarned: Another Obama campaign pledge is about to be dishonored. You can bet your bottom dollar (and you just might be doing that soon), "taxes high-cost, employer-provided insurance plans" is just the beginning. There is more likely than not that there will be more.
So, the take-home message here for the middle-class is to get ready to reach deep into your pockets, Obama and the Democrats in Congress have their eyes on your money to be used to pay for their costly, liberal, agenda to redistribute wealth from those that work for their money to those that want the government to take care of them.
And along with your money, they intend to take as many of your rights and freedoms (just a few of many) as you're willing to give up.
