'Times of India' to New York Times and Washington Post: 'terrorists are terrorists - not gunman'

Topics: Follies of the Mainstream Media, Political News and commentaries

For the NYT and the WaPo, terrorists are not terrorists, they are 'militants', 'gunmen', 'attackers' and 'assailants.' The T-word is never used.

Today, the Times of India calls them on it and offers this clue:

"My own broad guideline: If it looks as if it was intended to sow terror and it shocks the conscience, whether it is planes flying into the World Trade Center, gunmen shooting up Mumbai, or a political killer in a little girl's bedroom, I'd call it terrorism -- by terrorists."
Plain and simple logic that isn't applied in the American media which needs to revisit the old axiom - "If it looks like a duck, walks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, it's a damned duck." Avoiding the T-word is cutesy liberal political correctness, but idiotic. As TOI aptly points out, calling an act of terrorism for what it is, the the act isn't all that difficult.
