Message for Congress: Read the legislation before passing it

Topics: Political News and commentaries

A novel concept, indeed - read the damned legislation before you vote on it:

Colin Hanna of Let Freedom Ring discusses with Fox News Megan Kelly his pledge to get politicians to read every bill before voting on them. (HT - Stop the ACLU)
Interestingly, House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer laughed at the idea and said,"If every member (of Congress) pledged to not vote for a bill unless they'd read it in its entirety, I think we'd have very few bills passed." Hoyer's comment carries a message of its on, and essentially recognizes that if members of Congress actually knew what was in the bills they were passing, less bad legislation and less pork would be getting passed. For examples we need only look at the stimulus and climate change bills which have been and will be (in the case of the climate change bill) a disaster for the American people and their economy.
