A nation with two sets of laws
Topics: Political News and commentariesHaving watched President Obama and the Democrats in Congress essentially shred the Constitution and the rule of law in what appears to be obvious attempts to destroy our capitalist system and our individual freedoms, I find Nancy Morgan's warning in her piece, "Demise of the Rule of Law" to be right on target; we all should be very scared, indeed:
[...] With Obama's ascension to the highest office in the land, America is quickly turning into two separate and unequal factions - the elites who decide the rules and the peons who are obliged to follow them.Read it all.Our political elites are currently crafting a drastic overhaul of a health care system 77% of Americans say they are happy with. They have decreed that all Americans will now be subject to the new health care rules. Those that don't will be subject to $1,000 fines. Congress itself, however, will be exempt from the rules they are demanding the rest of us follow. Congressional members have their own health care plan, one that is not available to the rest of us peons.
Oh, and the unions, who have attained temporary elite status by virtue of their campaign contributions, will be granted special rules allowing them to be exempt from the proposed taxes on health care that will be paid by the peons in flyover country. (That's you and me)
Our politicians and the politically connected environmental elite are demanding all Americans drive smaller cars, use different light bulbs and pretty much alter their way of life to conform to the elite's stated, but misleading, attempt to 'save the earth.' At the same time, these elites fly around in the same private jets they demonize CEO's for using. To say nothing of the fleets of SUVs currently in use by the very people who would deny them to the rest of us peons.[...] We are now a nation with two sets of rules. One set for the elites, which is flexible and arbitrary, and another set of rules for the rest of us peons. The rule of law is now open to interpretation and discretionary enforcement, based on the transient whims of the reigning elite. Translation: There is no more rule of law. We should all be very scared.
As Carol Cawyer noted in her piece at reporternews.com:
When leaders ignore the law designed to protect residents from the overbearing tyranny of government, the people will remember that they are the true law and power in this country. Those who shred the Constitution will be swept from power by Constitutional means, including the Second Amendment which was included in the Constitution if ever needed "again" for this specific purpose.Clearly, Americans have forgotten the part about being protected from the overbearing tyranny of government and damned well need to start remembering it before it's too late.
