A look under the hood of Waxman-Markey

Topics: Political News and commentaries

In pointing to Kevin Williamson's and Stephen Spruiell's look under the hood of this Waxman-Markey climate policy vehicle - "A garden of Piggish Delights," Jonathan Adler notes at The Volokh Conspiracy that there's no way to prove that a carbon tax bill would have been less pork-laden than Waxman-Markey, but it could not have been any worse. Having read Williamson's and Spruiell's piece, a reasonable and unbiased mind just can't help but agree.

After all, there's good reason that Williamson and Spruiell refer to the bill as "part power-grab, part enviro-fantasy"; there's also little wonder the Democrats called for the vote before a finished copy was available and without anyone having read what was in it.

Pray tell, how long are Americans going to let our politicians in Washington get by with such shenanigans?.
