Arkansas murder of Soldiers at recruiting station an act of Islamic terrorism?

abdulhakim_muhammad_bkgrnd.jpgThe facts surely support the idea that the attack was indeed an act of Islamic terrorism, unless we all want to pretend that a Muslim jihadist who converted to Islam in prison and changed his name from Carlos Leon Bledsoe to Abdulhakim Mujahid Muhammad, and who traveled to Yemen on a Somali passport, is just a run-of-the-mill nutjob killer - much like Muslims want us to pretend jihad is an "internal personal & spiritual struggle." But this just isn't the case.

According to an ABC News report (HT - Sybil), the suspect arrested in the fatal shooting of one soldier and the critical injury of another at a Little Rock, Ark., Army recruiting booth today was under investigation by the FBI's Joint Terrorist Task Force since his return from Yemen:

The investigation was in its preliminary stages, authorities said, and was based on the suspect's travel to Yemen and his arrest there for using a Somali passport.

The suspect, Abdulhakim Mujahid Muhammad, 24, had changed his name from Carlos Leon Bledsoe after converting to the Muslim faith.

Law enforcement sources said he offered no resistance when Little Rock police arrested him today.

It was not known what path Muhammad, a U.S. citizen who is a recent convert to Islam, had followed to radicalization.

The path, of course, was in prison, where an unusually high number of convicts are being converted to Islam, and where federal officials have been warning that inmates in state prison systems are particularly susceptible to radical Islamist ideology.

Some questions that aren't being asked include how did he get a Somali passport, where did he get the money to travel to Yemen, what did he do there, who was he in contact with there, and who led him to want to go there.

So, should this Muslim jihadist killer of American soldiers be treated like a typical murderer and be sent back to prison where he can convert even more prisoners to the Muslim faith? Perhaps this is yet another reason we need GITMO to stay open. And instead of only incarcerating jihadists there that have been caught on the battlefields, include those caught attacking Americans on American soil so they can't add to the problem in prisons that already exists.
