Murder is never pro-life (Updated)
Topics: AbortionI won't even try to catch up with Stacy McCain on blogging about the shocking murder of Kansas abortion provider George Tiller - one of few physicians to perform controversial late-term abortions, who was shot and killed about 10 a.m. CT. Readers will find his post with numerous links and updates to be amply informative. I favor linking to Stacy's post over many others because I find his sentiments regarding the killer to be similar to my own - that regardless of the intention of the killer and regardless of how evil or misguided the victim, a true Christian would never commit murder and no good could ever come of it:
[...] Sometimes, when the stubborn wickedness of a people offends God, the Almighty withholds His divine protection, permitting those sinners to have their own way, following the road to destruction so that they are subjected to evil rulers and unjust laws. Never, however, does the wise and faithful Christian resort to the kind of lawlessness practiced with such cruelty today in Kansas.I do wish to express my own shock and anger at the murder of Dr. Tiller. Murder is never excusable, let alone supposedly done in the name of life., if it indeed turns out to be the case. (Apparently the sicko that committed the murder may already be in custody.) UPDATE: "Pro-Lifer" Scott Roeder Linked To Operation Rescue.[...] One reason I so despise such criminal idiocy is that, as a student of history, I cannot think of a single instance in which assassination has produced anything good, no matter how evil or misguided the victim, nor how well-intentioned or malevolent the assassin.
Unfortunagely, the Left and the MSM will immediately use this murder for political purposes, as exemplified by Andrew Sullivan and his ilk (an important read).
As with the entire pro-life community, my thoughts and prayers go out to the Tiller family.
