The Psychological Roots of Obamamania

Topics: Political News and commentaries
Check out this interesting article (HT - Ace) on how the president-elect tapped into a powerful - and only recently studied - human emotion called "elevation."

Apparently, evalation is essentially a collective case of people having their mental 'reset button' pushed - wiping out feelings of any cynicism and replacing them with feelings of hope, love, and optimism, and a sense of moral inspiration. In other words (mine not the author's), Obama duped a whole lot of people into believing the BS he was feeding them, and their common sense and natural tendency of preferring substance over empty, flowery, rhetoric got 'reset' to accepting an empty suit in favor of having a tingling up their leg (it seems that Chris Mathews must have gotten a quick hit of the hormone oxytocin).
