Religion of Peace Update: 'Muslim terrorists in Mumbai sexually mutilated non-Muslim victims'

Very disturbing photographs from police sources indicate that several of the guests at the Taj Mahal Hotel during the siege November 26 were sexually humiliated by the terrorists and then shot dead. Even the Rabbi and his pregnant wife at Nariman House were sexually assaulted and their genitalia mutilated.

And as Hugh Fitzgerald reminds us this morning in his piece titled, "Olmert: The schlemiel as head of state," like Ehud Olmert, George Bush, Susan Rice, and Tony Blair, keep thinking that they must say nice things about Islam even if they don't know what they are talking about, mainly because they know that Islam is a "religion," even "one of the world's great religions." Isn't it time they substitute the word "great" with the more accurate word "major" and for the word "religion" substitute the far more accurate "belief-system"?

And isn't it also about time that the West end the facade of pretending Islam has anything to do with peacefulness and recognize once and for all that the "religion" of Islam is an extremely rigid and authoritarian political ideology and it is actively hostile to other faiths? Shouldn't the Western world finally, openly and without hesitation recognize that what distinguishes Islam from other religions is that when it is correctly understood and practiced, Islam actively seeks the subjugation or destruction of everything that is not itself. While non-Islamic religions may seek the conversion or evangelization of others, and their devotees may employ force against others from time to time, Islam is the only religion whose basic animating principles pit it against the rest of the world, ensuring that war is the natural and obligatory state of affairs.
