Sarah Palin, the Liberal's Nightmare
Topics: Political News and commentariesArnold Ahlert at Political Mavens has exactly nailed the difference between what Gov. Sarah Palin stands for in the mindset of liberal decadence and those of us on the center-right. And the difference is strikingly simple, it's basis is that of common decency and values, and common sense:
Continue reading here ...No one highlights the chasm
between the innate decency of ordinary Americans and the elitist,
morally relative repugnancy of modern-day liberals better than Sarah
Palin. If not for the insinuation of
liberal decadence into every aspect of our culture, Sarah Palin-and all
other women like her-would be almost universally admired. Forget
politics for a moment. What's not to like about a tough, God-fearing
mother of five who's elevated herself from the obscurity of a small
town life to national prominence, even as she remains married to a
decent hard-working guy who supports her aspirations?
Nothing. Until one imposes the elitist, liberal template on her.
At that point the Sarah Palins of the world become speaking-in-tongues religious fanatics, hicks from nowhere, unfashionable frumps, and everything else that can emphasize the notion that such women aren't "hip" or "smart" enough to be taken seriously.
Yet she is being taken seriously. There are millions of Americans sick and tired of seeing their moral values and traditional worldview routinely trashed by liberal snobs and hypocrites in the MSM and the Democratic party. Those Americans who have been ridiculed for such things as believing in God, owning guns, and eschewing the cultural rot-the "unhip" red-necks, squares, hicks, fogies, etc.-see a crack in the facade. They see the unbridled viciousness directed at a women whose greatest "flaw" has been illuminating the abject bankruptcy of liberals whose claims of tolerance and open-mindedness have never rung hollower.
Trust me when I tell you that the 69 million Americans who watched the VP debate on Thursday-the highest-rated VP debate of all time-weren't tuning in to see Beltway retread Joe Biden.
There's a groundswell occurring in this country, one far away from the executive suites of a tainted MSM, the corrupt halls of Congress in Washington D.C., and the cultural snake pit of Hollywood. It is a wave of undisguised revulsion directed at those who have long assumed they are the uncontested winners of the culture war because the rest of us are "too stupid" to fight back.
The "groundswell" Ahlert speaks of needs to kick into high gear sooner rather than later if common sense, decency, and basic American values are going to beat out radical Marxist ideology of Barack Obama, the rest of the Democratic left, and its media in November.
