NewsBusters: 'UPI Charges ABC With Biased 'Double Standard' in Palin Interview' (Update: ABC News Edited Out Key Parts of Sarah Palin Interview)
Topics: Political News and commentariesYes, I do love it when Old Media outlets beat up on other Old Media outlets, such as the case with the United Press International (UPI), a struggling lesser known news wire service, socking it to ABC, saying that Charles Gibson's gruff handling of Governor Sarah Palin may "backfire," and that the interview revealed a "double standard" of harsh treatment for Republicans compared to the softballs they've thrown to Democrats in past interviews:
From NewsBusters we have:
UPI's Martin Sieff's one sentence assessment of the interview seems to be the general consensus of all dispassionate observers. "There were no surprises, no knockout zingers," Sieff says, "but also no bloopers Thursday night in Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin's first TV interview since becoming the Republican vice presidential nominee."And just think, this isn't coming from a right-wing blog, this is MSM against MSM.But, Sieff also noted that Gibson obviously intended to hurt Palin if he could and also noted that "double standard."
Charles Gibson of ABC News was out for blood and inherently applied a double-standard compared with the kid gloves George Stephanopoulos used on Democratic presidential nominee Sen. Barack Obama of Illinois on Sunday night.Sieff also thought that Palin was too nice to Gibson saying that she should have gone on the offensive against him.Gibson was out to embarrass Palin and expose her presumed ignorance from the word go. By contrast, when Obama referred to his "Muslim faith" on Sunday and did not correct himself, Stephanopoulos rushed in at once to help him and emphasize that the senator had really meant to say his Christian faith.
Gotta love it!
Update: ABC News Edited Out Key Parts of Sarah Palin Interview:
A transcript of the unedited interview of Sarah Palin by Charles Gibson clearly shows that ABC News edited out crucial portions of the interview that showed Palin as knowledgeable or presented her answers out of context. This unedited transcript of the first of the Gibson interviews with Palin is available on radio host Mark Levin's website. The sections edited out by ABC News are in bold. The first edit shows Palin responding about meeting with foreign leaders but this was actually in response to a question Gibson asked several questions earlier ...Let there be no doubt whatsoever; clearly, the message here is that ABC News has an anti-Palin agenda, and has exercised it throughout the interviews - as evidenced not only by the selectively edited comments of Sarah Palin, but also in the form, manner, and content of the questions - mostly meant to be "gotchas."

I concur with Richard that you just gotta love it when it is the "MSM (UPI) - against MSM (ABC)" that is compelled to point out the blatant
"double standards," the thinly veiled hostility, and the vile treatment of Mrs. Palin by ABC's Charles Gibson during the interview.
But, what is far more poignant and telling, is that when it gets to the point where the MSM looks at itself in the mirror, and just like Dorian Gray upon gazing at his portrait, it recoils in disgust and horror at what it sees, you can truly say: "Wow! The bias has gotten REALLY, REALLY, UGLY!"
Check out Townhall.com cartoonist Eric Allie's take on the MSM's bias against McCain and Palin. It's a must see:

I'm glad to see at least one member of the MSM be critical of the craziness going on, but I'm not very hopeful of it going beyond a now and then event. These are not the kind of people that are capable of getting beyond their biases.
