I absolutely agree with Kathryn Jean Lopez (Updated)
Topics: Political News and commentariesAs she astutely noted, this picture from the New York Times is not inspiring:
In fact, one can't help but believe that if the likes of Barney Frank, Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid and Chris Dodd are as ecstatic as they appear in the image, taxpayers must be doomed.
Besides, these people strike me as being total loons; it's very hard for me to believe that they care anything about the peoples business, merely their own share of the peoples money.
Besides, are those dollar signs I see in their eyes?
UPDATE: As Kathryn now notes, the NYT has apparently had their black coffee and has changed the image so as to better reflect the sobering moment of the Democrats having studiously worked on the people's business, to what ever avail.
Here's the new image: "Sober"
One could almost believe that the image has been Photoshopped, although there are enough differences to indicate it is indeed a re-shoot or different file footage. Notice that everyone is in the same position as in the previous image, only Barney Frank has been removed. And the shadow on the left side of the guy's face who is standing to the right of Harry Reid is gone also, and the shadow is now on the left side of the guy between a now very somber Harry Reid and the new spokesperson. However, Pelosi's image is vastly different from the previous one that looked like she'd been on Nitrous Oxide (N2O - laughing gas), and now appears as though she swallowed a canary. Since Barney is no longer anywhere in the scene, he either has been Photoshopped out or if the picture was re-shot, was simply unable to contain himself from laughing with glee over screwing tax payers and stuffing leftist pockets long enough to join the crowd somewhere else in the scene.
Well, whatever it takes to make the Democrats look good, the NYT is always willing to do it. Of course that's what we expect to come from a publication that's been loosing readership in droves.
