Hacker of Sarah Palin's Email Is Son Of Tennessee Democratic State Representative Mike Kernell (Updated)

Topics: Political News and commentaries

It appears that the (alleged) liberal thug that hacked into Sarah Palin's email account is none other than - you guessed it - a Democrat, actually - the son of a Democratic state representative in Tennessee. The name of the hacker is David Kernell:

The email address he used is rubico10@yahoo.com, he lives in Memphis, TN, and claims to be an amateur chess player.
The password he chose for Palin's email was popcorn - as in popcorn "kernell"!

Here's his dad:

Well, all I have to say is that I hope the kid has a tight pair of britches to take with him to the federal pen - because his new name is gonna be "Sweetcheeks" and he's likely gonna be 30 years-old when he gets out.

Gateway Pundit has much more.

Update: Richard Minter has it that Nashville's largest newspaper is reporting the story:

The hacker is David Kernell, the 20-year old son of Mike Kernell, a Democrat and elected state representative in Tennessee, according to Nashville's largest newspaper, the Tennessean.
Mentor predicts that the same crowd that said that Sarah Palin should have been able to control her 17-year old daughter will defend the 20 year-old hacker by saying no one can control their kids, and at least they'll be right once. Mentor also brings up some questions that are likely to be answered in the coming days as more news on the story develops:
Still, it will be interesting to see what hacker David Kernell has to say for himself. Why did he do it? What did he think he would find? Does he think he did something wrong? Who introduced him to the Associated Press, which ran with the story? And why did they protect him, even after his father was willing to give him up?

There is a lot more to this story than has emerged so far. Hopefully some enterprising blogger will dig it out...

No doubt, there's much more to come on this, as we remind ourselves that so far David Kernell is only alleged to be the hacker.

Update: The Other McCain has several new updates.
