About that speech, as in THE SPEECH (Video)(Updated)

John Podhoretz did some flipping around the channels, and the general consensus from liberal commentators is that the speech was a smash.

My own take was that it was a home run in every way possible, but the true test was my Hillary-supporter wife - she cried with joy, and is up late watching it again on another channel.

I heard Chris Wallace say tell Wolfson something like "you got trouble"!

This lady knows how to fight and can twist a knife in you and you'll even like it. She's a pro, a natural, and she makes Barack Obama's speeches sound dull.

Here's her speech in case you missed it (HT - STACLU). If you want to read the speech, you can find it elsewhere. To understand just what Sarah Palin did tonight - you have to see it to believe it:

Abe Greenwald says:

CNN's Campbell Brown and Anderson Cooper are bursting with unsanctioned enthusiasm for Sarah Palin. This is huge. Campbell Brown: "There are qualities she brings that only a woman a can bring. . . She can attack in a way with sort of a feminine air to her that makes those attacks almost more damaging . . . because she doesn't come off as sort of screeching or jarring or angry the way a man can . . ." Anderson Cooper: "She's got a great smile when she's attacking. She puts the knife in and smiles and you don't even know it's been done." Campbell Brown: In addition to that I have to tell you as a woman and as a mother when I saw her family, and she just talked about them, and we saw the shot of her baby being held . . I was very touched . . . you have an emotional reaction to that. "
RedState writes:
Sarah Palin took to the podium tonight and gave the speech of a lifetime, perhaps the best nationally broadcast political introduction in the convention history, and a knock out blow to the Obama-Biden campaign and their pals in the media.

Governor Palin's performance was phenomenal. It was amazing to be inside the XCEL Center listening, seeing the crowd's reaction, and seeing Governor Palin take the fight to opposition.

The media has pushed the Obama campaign's narrative for days that Governor Palin does not have enough experience to be Vice President. Tonight, she proved the media wrong. She proved the media frauds. She proved she's tough, she's a fighter, and yes, she can lead.

Tough, yes; a fighter, yes; knockout blow, I'm not so sure, yet. But it's a hell of a beginning. And Joe Biden had better bring his A-game to the debates.
