Texas Republican Party Ad Points To Obama's Brother's Poverty (Updated)

Topics: Political News and commentaries

The message here is clearly if Barack Obama cares so much about families, as he claims, why is his brother living in a box (paraphrasing a bit)?

The actual key line is, "If Barack cares so much about your family , why doesn't he take care of his family first?. Barack Obama lives in this house [Hyde Park home], wants to live in this house [the White House] , while his own brother lives in this one. (A picture of George Hussein Onyango Obama 's shack in Nairobi where he lives on $1 a day. - HT Marc Ambinder)

It's not like Barack Obama, who has written and spoken often about his Kenyan roots and his half-siblings, doesn't know about his brother. Apparently, he just could give a damn less as to how he has to live. This, while he and his monkey-faced, angy, wife demand that you give what you have earned to those who haven't earned it but could if they got off their lazy butts and stopped wallowing in victimhood taught them through years of liberal brainwashing..

Related: Powerline points to Andrew Breitbart's column - 'The Inconvenient Obama':

Andrew Breitbart takes the occasion of the Democrats' instigation of class warfare against John McCain to dwell on the meaning of "the inconvenient Obama" (i.e., Obama's half-brother George). Breitbart summons up an imaginary McCain ad he calls "Twelve" responding to Obama's ad "Seven" regarding McCain's houses:

Mr. McCain, of course, would be publicly eviscerated if he funded an ad campaign called "12" - as in the amount of dollars a year Mr. Obama's half-brother subsists on. The message also could accurately point out that Mr. Obama and his wife, Michelle, have consistently fallen short of the national average in charitable contributions since they entered the highest income bracket - despite their ballyhooed "progressive" religious faith that touts "economic equality."

Update: Commenter Jonathan (below) asks: "Why do you post bunk? Why don't you post what George Obama himself says?"

Jonathan goes on to post an excerpt of a CNN article titled, "Behind the Scenes: Meet George Obama":

"But reports surfaced in the past few days, springing from an Italian Vanity Fair article saying George Obama is living in a shack and "earning less than a dollar a day."

The reports left him angry.

"I was brought up well. I live well even now," he said. "The magazines, they have exaggerated everything.

"I think I kind of like it here. There are some challenges, but maybe it is just like where you come from, there are the same challenges," Obama said...

But George Obama will have none of it. He draws inspiration from his famous half-brother. He acknowledges that he is biased but said he knows that his half-brother will be the next president.

Good check, Jonathan; apparently the article linked in my post was based more upon the Italian Vanity Fair article saying George Obama is living in a shack and "earning less than a dollar a day."

While the CNN article Jonathan refers to doesn't state how much George makes, it does have him saying that was brought up well and that he lives well even now. In the spirit of avoiding sarcasm,I won't ask what George means by "well" or how well is well - but I can't help but wonder how "well" compares to the $1 a day stated in the Italian article.

However, Jonathan left out some text between "There are some challenges, but maybe it is just like where you come from, there are the same challenges," Obama said..." and "But George Obama will have none of it. He draws inspiration from his famous half-brother. He acknowledges that he is biased but said he knows that his half-brother will be the next president." What Jonathan left out offers a bit of a bridge between the Italian article and the CNN article quoted by Jonathan:

Obama, who is in his mid-20s, is learning to become a mechanic and is active in youth groups in Huruma. He said he tries to help the community as much as he can.

At least one of his neighbors feels that perhaps the candidate should help the brother.

"I would like Obama to visit his brother to see how he is living, to improve his way of life," said Emelda Negei, who runs a small dispensary near Obama's house.

The excerpt omitted by Jonathan leaves one with the view that the truth may lie somewhere between the Italian article and the CNN article - and neither of two articles speak to Barack Husseing Obama practicing what he preaches.

In any event, I appreciate Jonathan pointing out the discrepancy between the two.
