Sarah Palin, - 'The Anti-Obama'

Topics: Political News and commentaries

092607govpalinfish.jpgLinda Chavez makes a good point that I couldn't help but notice as well; "Sarah Palin is better without a teleprompter than Obama with one":

Obama's self-aggrandizing style is off-putting to a lot of women. He sounded so angry last night I think he'll scare women who don't like that bombastic style. Palin, on the other hand, has the energy and quick-wittedness to give a speech without a script and to flow with the crowd. She is really a phenomenon.
And as Jennifer Rubin notes, they're even impressed On MSNBC:
Chuck Todd: "It a a gee whiz story." He notes that the networks aren't covering the Barack Obama story for last night. Andrew Mitchell makes the obvious point about her appeal to women and and less obvious point about her sell to western voters. The 35-50 year-old working mom voters are sitting on the sidelines right now, Todd observes.
As for Team Obama, they don't even have the courtesy to recognize the historic event, as John McCain has done when Obama won the primaries (and later when Obama was nominated). Here's what Jim Geraghty has to say about Team Obama's attack:
Team Obama cannot even say, "Congratulations, Governor Palin, we look forward to a spirited race." Nope, first thing they do is attack, attack, attack:

Barack Obama's campaign is blasting John McCain for putting "the former mayor of a town of 9,000 with zero foreign policy experience a heartbeat away from the presidency."

The scathing description of Sarah Palin, from Obama spokesman Bill Burton, comes as Democrats scramble to gather a response to a selection that nobody in the political world expected.

"Governor Palin shares John McCain's commitment to overturning Roe v. Wade, the agenda of Big Oil and continuing George Bush's failed economic policies -- that's not the change we need, it's just more of the same," added Burton.

Democrats will likely push the inexperience line against Palin as they race to comb oppo files from Wasilla to Juneau.

First, after spending the entire campaign talking about how experience isn't everything, Barack Obama, who's never held a full-time job for four years, cannot start hitting her on inexperience.

Rove just called the response "petty and small," and boy, this is going to just further convince the Pumas that sexism drives the Obama campaign.

UPDATE: The guys on Fox News note that the Obama campaign can't even bring themselves to call her "Governor Palin." That response is going to blow up in their faces.

On the balance, sure, Team Obama is acting within the character of their campaign, and surely is going to do everything they can to soften the blow of McCain's obviously bold pick. However, Sarah Palin is one tough cookie, she knows how to handle "the boys," and has a resume that can appeal to a broad cross-section of voters, and her being on the McCain ticket will highlight Barack Obama's extremist abortion views on whether certain lives are worth living, even a child born after a botched abortion or a child with a disability.

And did I mention that the lady can give a hell of an enthusiastic speech? As John Podhoretz notes: "For someone who has never spoken before a national audience, in the most challenging moment of her life, Sarah Palin is displaying a kind of comfort that is, well, Obama-like."

Good pick, John McCain.

Oh yeah, almost forgot. Did I also mention she's hot?

I think Palin can teach more than just a few things to Obama. And, unlike Obama, she doesn't seem to believe or support Infanticide.
