'Obama's Flank Is Showing'
Topics: Political News and commentariesEven at this early stage in the battle, even a West Point plebe could see that the day belonged to Gen. McCain's Republican Guard. If Lt. Obama had read more about Cannae, Marathon, Cowpens, etc., he might have been better prepared for the obvious pincer movement Gen. McCain had planned all along.Check out the diagram at Exurban League illustrating how the Summer 2008 battle was won.
In retrospect, McCain's "house gaffe" has worked out almost like Team McCain planned it and Team Obama took the bait - opening the door for a firestorm of Ayers and Rezko attacks.
Related from the McCain campaign:
Senator Barack Obama often claims that he will bring "change" to Washington. He says that he will change the way business is done in the nation's capital. In many of his speeches, Senator Obama calls for Americans to look past the tradtional labels of a "Red America" and a "Blue America."But is Obama practicing what he preaches? Does his record match his rhetoric?
The answer is a definitive no. While Barack Obama calls for puttting Country before Party, his record indicates otherwise. In 2007, Senator Obama voted with his fel low Democrats 97 % of the time, according to an analysis by CQ Politics.
The truth is that the American people have yet to see Senator Barack Obama forsake partisanship for progress. Obama hasn't been willing to make the tough calls and to challenge his own party.
Did You Know, Part 1...
* Senator Obama decries the influence of special interest groups, but in 2005 he voted for the Bush-Cheney Energy Bill, which gave billions of dollars in tax breaks to the oil companies. That is not change we can believe in.I would add that there should be no doubt that the only real change that applies to Obama is the way he changes his positions and recalls facts in order to please the audience at the time.* By contrast, John McCain broke ranks with his own party and took on the special interests, voting against the Bush-Cheney Energy Bill. In fact, John McCain has a 25 year record of taking on special interest groups. During his entire Senate career, McCain has never requested a single pork barrel project.
Did You K now, Part 2...
* Barack Obama has changed his position on issue after issue this election. Already, Senator Obama has changed his positions on key issues such as free trade, the Iraq War, and offshore drilling. Each day seems to bring a new change in his political views.
* By contrast, John McCain has stuck to his beliefs through good times and bad times. McCain took the ultimate risk by advocating the Iraq Troop Surge when it could have cost him an election. John McCain is a man of his word. That is rare in Washington today and that is why John McCain is the only candidate who can reform the system.
