Alaska Governor Sarah Palin On Drilling In ANWR
Topics: OilI ditto what Stop the ACLU says on this; there's not much to say about this video except that Governor Palin says nails it on what we need to be doing about our oil problem. And indeed, McCain would smart to pick this woman as his VP.

To all:
Congressman Roscoe Bartlett (R-MD 6th District) presented an overview of the Peak Oil issue to the US House of Representatives (today).

The gist of his presentation was to categorize the current oil situation as a result of an upcoming Peak Oil Crisis. According to a Shell Oil scientist, the world will reach a Peak Oil situation by 2016. Actually, Congressman Bartlett contends that we are have reached this peak, and that is what is driving the oil prices haywire. He quotes some oil scientist of contending that in order to avoid the what we are experiencing in today's oil prices, we needed to mitigate these effects a decade before the peak oil crisis date (2006).
Mitigation, Bartlett, professes means turning to alternate fuel sources for our energy consumption ... power consumption, like electric power. We need to move on wind, nuclear and geo-thermal energy sources immediately. Immediate mitigation, he claims, has been relegated to conservation ... we are into the Peak Oil Crisis vortex, already!
Congressman Bartlett's charts are impressive. In sense, his claims that China has been active in purchasing oil everywhere around the globe and building a blue water navy to protect them have merit. China has made inroads with the three major oil suppliers: Saudi Arabia, Iran and Venezuela (China has sold weaponry to Venezuela).
Our problem, as foreseen by this Shell Oil scientist as quoted by Congressman Bartlett, is that we own only 2% of the world's oil; however, we consume 25% of the world's oil resources. In this 2%, he does not include the oil shale
Oil shale - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The oil shale reserves represent twice to three times the current world's oil reserves. Fortunately, the Green River Valley in the Western United States contains 62% of the world's oil shale reserves. Oil shale products could replace oil being used to power-electric generating plants, thus freeing that oil for consumption in the transportation industries.
What Congressman Bartlett conveys is that solutions are all around us, but we need to re-acquire the motivation of the World War II and Man-on-the-Moon generations in order to exploit them. To quote Congressman Bartlett, marijuana and porno movies occupy the minds of our current generation ... they have life too easy.
The Congressman does admit that some speculation is transpiring, exacerbating the problem with high gas prices. However, he feels that market corrections will punish those engaged in such activities. Apparently, the congressman underestimates the devious minds of the creatures of avarice at Goldman Sachs, Morgan Stanley and their horde of foreign exchange co-conspirators.
As for this article, drilling in the ANWR will only forego the current oil situation by a few years.

At least, drilling in the ANWR would be doing something positive to rectify the current 2% position, it is not enough to make a difference ... according to Congressman Bartlett.
