Obama Will Sit Down With Iran, But Won't Visit Iraq ?

Topics: Political News and commentaries

I've been wondering why, according to Barack Obama's own previous statements, he's said he would meet and sit down with Hamas and go to Iran to meet with Ahmadinejad, but won't commit to meeting US Military Leaders or to visiting Iraq. Sounds to me like he's afraid of learning the truth because the truth conflicts with his distorted version of reality.

Jim Geraghty points out the hyprocricy of Obama's position:

You know what is intriguingly missing from that answer? Any indication that Obama will return to Iraq before Election Day.

Obama has been to Iraq once, in 2006. It was a two-day tour of the country.

I suppose one can argue about the value of seeing the situation on the ground with one's own eyes, but wouldn't the architect of a withdrawal want to see some of the circumstances himself? Even if Obama didn't want to travel with McCain, is it really wise to suggest that a tour of post-surge Iraq is unnecessary? Wouldn't scheduling a visit defuse criticism like this from Vets for Freedom PAC?

And isn't Obama vulnerable to the argument that a man who's pledged to meet unconditionally, one-on-one, face-to-face with Mahmoud Ahmadinejad really ought to meet at least once one-on-one with Gen. David Petraeus?

A.J. Sparxx says he's not surprised - this is the modern day Democrat Party: Their new leader, Barack Obama, will welcome with open arms people like Chavez and Ahmadinejad, while turning a blind eye to his own Country's military leaders.

Clearly, not only is Obama blind to what he doesn't know, he's not even willing to check the facts. That's a very dangerous trait for someone who aspires to be President and Commander-in-Chief.

"Commander-in-Chief"? Correction. More like "Commander-in-Ché"!
