Dems 'Heart' High Gas Prices (Updated)

Topics: Oil

How else does one explain the Dems being stuck-on-stupid in refusing to drill for more oil - yet wanting the Saudis to produce what we could have already been producing to keep prices down? For years, Democrats have obstructed efforts to up the supply of oil and for just as many years listened to "radical environmentalists" who forced onerous regulations on oil companies.

As Mike's America points out at Flopping Aces, next time a Democrat complains about the high cost of gasoline, ask them why they voted against eco-friendly drilling for oil right here in the U.S. We have enough oil right here in the U.S. to replace every drop of oil currently imported from the Middle East. More here ...

John at Powerline is even more critical of the Democrat's energy policies:

[...] With 94% of the world's oil supply locked up by foreign governments, most of which are hostile to the United States, the relatively puny American oil companies do not have access to enough crude oil to significantly affect the market and help bring prices down. Thus, Exxon Mobil, a small oil company, buys 90% of the crude oil that it refines for the U.S. market from the big players, i.e, mostly-hostile foreign governments. The price at the U.S. pump is rising because the price the big oil companies charge Exxon Mobil and the other small American companies for crude oil is going up.

This is obviously a tough situation for the American consumer. The irony is that it doesn't have to be that way. The United States--unlike, say, France--actually has vast petroleum reserves. It would be possible for American oil companies to develop those reserves, play a far bigger role in international markets, and deliver gas at the pump to American consumers at a much lower price, while creating many thousands of jobs for Americans. This would be infinitely preferable to shipping endless billions of dollars to Saudi Arabia, Russia and Venezuela.

So, why doesn't it happen? Because the Democratic Party--aided, sadly, by a handful of Republicans--deliberately keeps gas prices high and our domestic oil companies small by putting most of our reserves off limits to development.

[...] In short, all Americans are paying a terrible price for the Democratic Party's perverse energy policies.

The last sentence in the above excerpts is our take-home message: Americans are paying a terrible price for the Democratic Party's perverse energy policies, and it is long past time for the American people to make their voices heard and demand an end to the stranglehold of our energy policies by the environmentalist's Marxist, anti-American agenda and the Democrat's support of them.

Senate and House Judiciary Committees Drill Oil Execs ...

The Democrats and some Republicans have refused to allow us to drill for our own oil in our own country, whether in ANWR, off the gulf coast or anywhere else for that matter, forcing us to rely on oil from other nations. By putting us into the situation where we have to buy oil, the one product that is central to the stability of American economy, from other, in some cases hostile, nations instead of drill for it ourselves, the Dems have handed the leaders of these nations the ability to directly manipulate the American economy. We're talking about Mahmoud Ahmadinejad of Iran, Hugo Chavez of Venezuela, Mohammar Quadarfi of Libya as well as others. There isn't another scenario much more nightmarish than that.
