Today Being Sunday, I'm Feeling Expecially Bitter (Updated)
Topics: Political News and commentaries"it's not surprising then that they get bitter, they cling to guns or religion or antipathy toward people who aren't like them or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations." - Barack Obama
I went to mass earlier today, then, after lunch with a couple of my fellow parishioners, headed out to my son's property for some afternoon target shooting. Although I usually go to mass a few mornings a week as well, Sunday has always been a special day for me to attend mass, spend time talking with friends afterwards, and weather permitting, join my son for an afternoon of shooting and just enjoying the outdoors - at least a couple of times a month.
However, until Messiah Obama pontificated on my bitterness, I always thought that my reason for being a Catholic and attending mass was because I believed in God and "embraced" my faith. And I thought I enjoyed shooting and hunting because it's been a tradition in my family for 4 generations, during which every male member of our family has served in the military. It's always been something that we just enjoyed doing together.
Yet, in Obama's world, all along, for generations now, we're just lowly, bitter, lowlife scum who enjoy hunting and embrace our faith and values because we're angry about our economic conditions and Washington's failure to curb illegal immigration's invasion of our country and it's accompanying drain on our economic resources. After all, we're just like the people in Pennsylvania that the condescending snob SOB described as "bitter," distrustful have-nots who "cling to guns or religion." Heck, many of my family have been farmers; my grandfather was actually a share-cropper. So, to say the least, we definitely qualify as non-elitist, non-millionaires who struggle through life doing our best to give a better life to our children and teach them to love our God and our country. To make matters worse, at least in the eyes of Obama - and apparently many others in the Democratic Party, we don't blame America for what we don't have, we praise it for what we do have and the freedoms (up to now) that we enjoy.
And did I mention that I'm not particularly happy with Washington's failure to control illegal immigration, especially when my non-Mexican immigrant friends spent so much money, worked so hard, and waited so long - to be here in America legally?Again, in Obama's world, these values and beliefs make me an especially bitter lowlife scum of a human being.
