Six Hundred Iraqi Shiite Leaders And 300,000 Iraqis Condemn Iran In a Petition For Sowing 'Disorder In Southern Iraq
Topics: IraqThe Iraqis themselves are saying what the Left has been denying:
"The most poisonous dagger stabbed in us, the Iraqi Shi'ites, is the (Iranian) regime shamefully exploiting the Shi'ite sect to implement its evil goals. They have targeted our national interests and began planning to divide Iraq and to separate the southern provinces from Iraq."More on the story at Gateway Pundit.
The WaPo reports that according to a tribal leader that wishes to remain anonymous out of fear for his life, the Iranians have, in fact, taken over all of south Iraq," and that heir influence is everywhere." (Hat tip - TigerHawk)

Too bad you "Right" people are so, so easy to mislead with BS propaganda like this.

Haas's comment is quite telling of his political leanings. It seems to me the post deals with news and has little to do with opinion. No informed person would deny Iran's efforts to destabilize Iraq, particularly in the South, and no truly informed person, familiar with the politics and tribal relationships in the ME would deny that the Shi'ites in the South have been tiring of Iran's attempts to "de-Iraqify" Iraqis, and are becoming fed up with the violence - as have the Sunnis in the north. Semantics and equivalences aside, the news of their joining together in opinion against Iran is a positive sign.
Too bad the Left is so, so quick to use contorted logic in looking and hoping for bad news about Iraq and the Iraqi people. Our friend Haas appears to be in a bit of a rush to find despair in what appears to be glimmers of hope, albeit caution is surely always in order when dealing with matter of this sort.
