Robert Redford, Meryl Streep and Tom Cruise - 'LambChops' for Lions (Updated)
Topics: Political News and commentariesI hate to be dissing one of my advertisers, but apparently I'm not the only one that refuses to waste their money on Redford's anti-war boondoggle, Lions for Lambs. And as Adam Dziewiontkoski puts it at U of W's Advance-Titan:
If you like "Lions for Lambs," you're one of two things: a myopic liberal or incredibly gullible. My sentiments, exactly!Pretty soon we're just going to have movies in which celebrities sit in front of a camera and lecture audiences for 90 minutes, and that's exactly what this latest feature, starring and directed by Robert Redford, feels like.
What was an anticipated feature film surrounding our current war on terrorism (and a potential Oscar contender), "Lions" turns out to be one of the most insulting, pedantic and inert movies of 2007.
As Glenn Whip at SJMN says of Redford's leftwing propaganda piece: "Lions for Lambs" is Hollywood's latest casualty of war, a movie undone not by its heart (which is in the right place) but by its stilted, obvious and one-sided presentation. This is not the antidote to apathy.
