Media Continue To Propagate Terrorist's Propaganda (Updated)Topics: Follies of the Mainstream Media
We have all by now become well accustomed to the news media's publishing propaganda as 'news' and "twisting" the story of success in Iraq into, what AJ Strata describes today as being "under the keyboard of a single media ideologue." It has become clear that the media is willing to not only color the affiliations and descriptions of the players to fit the media's anti-American, pro anti-war agenda (you gotta give them credit for their imagination - such as when they refer to sunni insurgent terrorists as "concerned citizens"), but also completely misrepresent situations and events.
This was the case last Saturday, Nov. 11, when Ghaith Abdul-Ahad wrote about a commander of former Sunni insurgents (now "concerned citizens") Abu Abed in the "al-Guardian." Confederate Yankee, in posting on the story, kindly describes it as another case of the media "drastically misunderstanding the situation," even when they're "eye-to-eye with their subjects." It is clearly another example of the news media purposefully allowing themselves to be a conduit of terrorist propaganda and coloring it as news. And this time, Lt. Col. Dale Kuehl, the U.S. Battalion Commander that works with Abu Abed and the citizens of Ameriyah felt that the Guardian article was so inaccurate that he took the time to provide a written response....
This most recent example of the Guardian's distortion of the news to fit an Islamist agenda that has become one with the Left is nothing new. As we've noted previously, although every now and then The Guardian offers informative articles in its opinion pieces, for the most part it's known for commentaries that amount to nothing less than being apologia for radical Islam, often much the dismay of Muslims who do not embrace the Islamists' ideology but are seldom given an audience such as provided by media such as The Guardian (now more an "al-Guardian").
In the past the Guardian has actually published an edited version of a speech attributed to Osama Bin Laden in the form of an opinion piece in its Comments section (This article was the source of some hilarity, as wits started to describe Osama Bin Laden as a "Guardian columnist"). The month previously the Guardian published a series of articles by an activist in Hizb'ut Tahrir, a racist theocratic totalitarian political party. The Guardian's reputation for being a conduit of Islamist propaganda that Charles Johnson (Little Green Footballs) suggests that the Al-Guardian Gives Insanity a Bad Name.
However, the "al-Guardian" is not alone in its support of terrorism, and some have said that the media actually enables terrorism. M. Zuhdi Jasser, a Muslim reformist, has gone so far as to charge the mainstream media of being Islamist facilitators.
