Some Might Call It Treason

Topics: Political News and commentaries

As AJStrata notes, there is indeed a reason for using Executive Privelege in a time of war, and has to do with the fact that American lives are at stake and a debate in Congress completely neutralizes our so called SECRET defenses against another 9-11. As an example, he points to this exposure in the Washington Post regarding NSA surveillance of known terrorists overseas and contacts with people here in the US.

There was a time when telegraphing your intentions to the enemy was considered idiotic and highly likely to get you killed, and there was also a time when divulging our secret defenses to the enemy was called treason. But, then again, this is 2008 and there are politicians in Washington acting foolishly and playing it lose with our national secrets while doing their level best to see to it that al-Qaeda is shown how to avoid being discovered so that they can attack America, at will - and yes this is still highly likely to get more Americans killed. And you can bet the farm on Bush being blamed for it when it happens - and it just might be sooner than you think.
