A Fair Assessment On Iraq Points To A Split In House Democrats On War
Topics: IraqPowerline points to the assessments of the major progress we're making in Iraq by liberal analysts like Michael O'Hanlon and Kenneth Pollack, and MSM reporters like John Burns, and offers that it's an excellent sign that, for a change, our top commander's assessment is no more optimistic, and indeed perhaps more cautious, than the assessment of commenators only the defeatist left considers biased in favor of the administration.
As for what General Petraeus has to say, here's what he told Michael Yon via an NRO symposium.
Interestingly, while Petraeus' assesment is indeed "no more optimistic, and indeed perhaps more cautious" than the assessment of liberal commenators like O'Hanlon, Pollack, and Burns, the number of U.S. servicemen killed in Iraq in July was 74, the lowest total in eight months (hat tip - Powerline).
All this may contribute to some Democrats being increasingly nervous. After all, up until now they have banked on and operated on an agenda that opposed our winning in Iraq in favor of doing everything they can to hand a victory to our enemy.
