Speaker Nancy Pelosi Calls Embryonic Stem Cell Research 'Gift From God'

pelosi_nancy_duhhhh.jpgHelp me out on this, I don't quite get it. Is Nancy Pelosi really saying that she believes destroying human embryos is some kind of divine gift?

Washington, DC (LifeNews.com) -- House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has drawn guffaws from the pro-life community for comments saying that embryonic stem cell research, which involves the destruction of days-old human embryos, is a "gift from God." Her remarks came after the House approved a bill to force Americans to fund it.

"Science is a gift of God to all of us, and science has taken us to a place that is biblical in its power to cure..

Is Speaker Pelosi unaware that human embryonic stem-cell research is immoral, and unnecessary? Is she not aware that claims of imminent cures of disease using embryonic stem cells are junk science, whereas progress in adult stem cell research has been nothing short of spectacular? Isn't she falling for the mainstream media and the pro-abortion lobby's exaggerated prospects for embryonic stem cell research while ignoring the real results achieved with adult stem cells?

Is she not aware that no reputable researcher believes that embryonic stem cells show any promise in the near future of being clinically useful in humans, and success with animals has been minimal. In fact, recent discoveries that some adult stem cells can be turned into any cell type in the body may make the arguments for embryonic stem cells for therapeutic cloning moot?

Apparently not. However, the plain fact is that embryonic stem cell research is proving to be a bust. There are currently 72 therapies showing human benefits using adult stem cells and zero using embryonic stem cells:

FDA approved human trials using embryonic stem cells -- 0

FDA approved clinical trials using adult stem cells -- 1,181

In other words, it's not the FUNDS that are Lacking for Embryonic Stem Cell Research.
It's the Results.
Embryonic stem cells have been used in ANIMAL trials for 25 years.
After 25 years, and many thousands of dead mice and rats, ESCs have not been shown safe enough for trials in humans, mainly because of their propensity to form tumors (grow uncontrollably), and because of their rejection problems.
