RNC Faces Donor Falloff, Fires Solicitors
Topics: Immigration and Border IssuesAnd "little" wonder; especially given Bush's indifference to the wishes of his base exemplified by his comments on Tuesday essentially bashing his biggest supporters for being unpatriotic for recognizing the immigration bill as a disaster for America and the Republican party. Like Howard Beale said in the 1976 film, Network (video), the donors are "as mad as hell and they're not going to take it anymore!!"
"Every donor in 50 states we reached has been angry, especially in the last month and a half, and for 99 percent of them immigration is the No. 1 issue," said a fired phone bank employee who said the severance pay the RNC agreed to pay him was contingent on his not criticizing the national committee.Take home message for President Bush and the politicians that support the immigration bill: The American people just aren't buying what you're trying to sell. You can put lipstick on a pig, but it's still a pig and the American people know one when they see it.
