Libby Sentencing: 30 Months in Jail:
Even Sandy Berger only received a $50,000 fine for illegally removing classified documents from the National Archives, where he had been reviewing them under authorization by Bill Clinton in preparation for testimony before the 9/11 Commission. The Clinton 'wall' at the Justice Department:But now, when a Republican forgets who snitched about the cover of a CIA agent (I've read it was both Robert Novak and Tim Russert -- who's convicting them?), or allegedly lies about the details or his involvement, he is sentenced to serve 2 1/2 years behind bars? Is this not a double standard?
From the aggressive prosecution of 'Scooter' Libby for having a bad memory to the powder-puff prosecution of Sandy Berger for stealing and then destroying unique documents related to terrorism and 9/11 from the National Archive, it seems that the catalyst for a thorough investigation - at least where politicians are concerned - is directly influenced by which political party the alleged offender belongs to.hat tip - Sticky Notes

" allegedly lies about the details or (of) his involvement..."
I think once he's convicted, you can drop the "allegedly". He's a lawyer who lied under under oath. If he had agreed to a plea bargain, as Berger did, he would have gotten more lenient terms. That's why they call it a bargain.
