Nancy Pelosi's Syrian Friends Assasinate Anti-Syrian Lebanese MPTopics: Middle East News and Perspectives
Member of Lebanese parliament Walid Eido, a foe of Syrian involvement in Lebanon, his son, Khalid, and two of his bodyguards were killed in an explosion Wednesday outside a Beirut military sports club in what hospital sources said was an assassination (hat tip - LGF).
Syria has essentially admitted that turmoil in Lebanon is linked to a bid to urge the U.N. Security Council in not establishing the international tribunal to prosecute suspects in the 2005 assassination of former Premier Rafik Hariri. During a phone conversation, Assad threatened UN secretary General that he will destroy the whole region from the Caspian Sea to the Mediterranean sea if the UN goes ahead with the Tribunal.
Readers will recall that Nancy Pelosi's embrace of the Syrian dictator "made the regime feel that Americans were divided on how to deal with Syria, "which sent the message to the regime that the pressure is off, that it can do what it likes."
