Are Iranian Forces Being 'Choppered In' Over Iraqi Border? If So, When Will The Administration Admit We're At War With Iran?
Topics: IraqAnd if they are, are we at war with Iran yet? Will President Bush finally let loose our dogs of war and attack Iran for killing our troops? Finally?
LONDON (AFP via NCR-Iran)- Iranian Revolutionary Guard forces have been spotted by British troops crossing the border into southern Iraq, The Sun tabloid reported on Tuesday. After all, whether we continue to hide our heads in the sand as we've been doing since 1979, Iran is at war with us and we are allowing them to continue to have their way....Britain's defence ministry would not confirm or deny the report, with a spokesman declining to comment on "intelligence matters".
An unidentified intelligence source told the tabloid: "It is an extremely alarming development and raises the stakes considerably. In effect, it means we are in a full on war with Iran -- but nobody has officially declared it."
"We have hard proof that the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps have crossed the border to attack us. It is very hard for us to strike back. All we can do is try to defend ourselves. We are badly on the back foot."
The Sun said that radar sightings of Iranian helicopters crossing into the Iraqi desert were confirmed to it by very senior military sources.
In response to the report, a British defence ministry spokesman said: "There is evidence that explosive devices used against our troops in southern Iraq originated in Iran."
As Craig Smith put it in his WNT piece earlier this month:
There is a showdown coming with Iran, as sure as the sun coming up in the East tomorrow. The only question will be: Does the world have the heart and strength to deal with it, or will the media and politicians be allowed to use it as an opportunity for ratings and votes? The time has long come for the U.S. to recognize it is at war with Iran. We can no longer continue to pretend that Iran is not at war with us - we must start fighting with all the military power the United States has at its disposal. Giving Iran Carte Blanche to murder American troops is immoral and a terrible exercise in dhimmitude that can only result in our defeat.Iran is not Hollywood. It is not dealing with fantasy. It is preparing to deliver reality. More killings and bombings are music to the ears of the sick leadership in Tehran. Ahmadinejad believes he is the man, and this is the time. History records one such man. People thought his insanity would stop him from any real damage. How wrong they were. Millions died as a result.
History will repeat itself if the world doesn't soon draw the line in the sand with Iran. It seems to have a way of doing that you know.
Simply put, our government has a moral obligation to respond to Iran's acts of war. Failure to do so will only encourage Iran to sponsor more attacks on Americans in Iraq, Afghanistan, and eventually - here at home through its terrorist proxies.
