Pelosi And Lantos May Go To Iran

Only recently back from their debacle in Syria, the two amateur confounders of our nation's foreign policy are apparently considering a trip to Iran to meet with Ahmadinejad. Is it possible that these two people are so self-deluded that they actually believe that their meddling is going to do anything other than embolden Iran and give Ahmadinejad status that he'll use for propaganda against us? I can't decide if she's simply a total naive fool, or a felon.

Although other politicians have visited Syria, none have done so with the purpose of opening dialogue with that country against the express foreign policy dictates of the President (Representative Tom Lantos (D-CA), who accompanied Pelosi, said of the trip, "We have an alternative Democratic foreign policy. I view my job as beginning with restoring overseas credibility and respect for the United States.") Hasn't today's version of Hanoi Jane ever heard of the Logan Act? It's little wonder so many are comparing Nancy Pelosi to Neville Chamberlain, the infamous British appeaser. As Geoff Metcalf notes at The American Daily, the comparison frankly does a disservice to Chamberlain.

On the other hand, their first trip was such a disaster, a trip to Iran would further demonstrate the Democrat's ineptness in foreign policy and help Republicans in 08. My guess is that Republican hopefuls are happy over this, although the president and the State Department are probably steaming.
