Jihad In Pakistan (Video)

Topics: Understanding Islam

This post is put up for my good friend Muhammed Z., from Peshawar. At a time when Islamist political parties are taking over from secular ones across the Muslim world, Muhammed supports the Awami National Party (ANP) that encourages education and economic development as the means to address the country's problems rather than fundamental Islamism. Muhammed introduced me to the leader of the party when he visited the U.S. last year, during which time I was able to learn much about their vision of teaching children science and mathematics instead of a radical ideology, as is being pushed by the Islamist parties.

To help us learn more about radical Islam in Pakistan, here's two "must-see" video clips from UK television, an episode of Channel 4's Dispatches that examines the jihad in Pakistan. (In two parts - hat tip LGF)

Part 1

Part 2

While we're on Pakistan, remember the cartoon jihad?

The Christian community in Pakistan faces danger every day. Although Christians are a tiny minority there, they're often the target of brutal attacks. However, Christians aren't the only people at risk from fundamentalists. Secular Muslims who do not buy into the Islamist doctrine are equally at risk.
