Muslim On Muslim Violence And 'The Curse Of The Jew' (Updated)

Every time a suicide bomber kills himself along with hundreds of innocent people in Iraq, The Big Pharaoh asks himself a question: "How come up till now the Arab/Muslim world is not asking itself where these suicide bombers are coming from?"

Every time a suicide bomber kills himself along with hundreds of innocent people in Iraq I ask this question: how come up till now the Arab/Muslim world is not asking itself where these suicide bombers are coming from? Iraq's suicide bombers are just too many. It's very scary people. Here are people willing to kill themselves just to slaughter a few Shittes in a market or poor Iraqi police recruits. That freakin scary. If you can convince someone to blow up himself in the midst of a group of Shittes, then you can convince another to blow up anything. And what really makes me so angry is the fact that the Arab Muslim world, its intelligentsia, its religious leaders, its Al Jazeera, are paying zero attention to the fact that hundreds upon hundreds upon hundreds of Muslim youth are willing to blow themselves in anything. What makes me so angry is the fact that the Arab/Muslim world have no time to think about the mass murderers it's pumping out everyday, it's busy rioting over cartoons 4 months after they were published, busy complaining about "Islamophobia" in the West.

The answer to his question has to do with, you guessed it, those evil Jooooooooozzzz.

TBP calls the syndrome the curse of the Jew, and he makes a good case for it:

Whenever a Muslim blows up himself to kill hundreds of other Muslims I always tend to call that "the curse of the Jew". We allowed and justified suicide bombings against innocent Israelis in cafes and malls. We religiously sanctioned the actions of every Palestinian suicide bomber who killed and maimed Israelis. Now it seems the suicide bombers are killing far more Muslims than Jews.

The deafening silence of the Arab/Muslim world towards the mass slaughters in Iraq indicate one thing: this region will stay in the abyss of darkness, ignorance, and backwardness for a very long time until someone really rises up, takes it by the neck, and forces it to look in a mirror and see the ugly reflection.

The BP makes a similar point to one made by Thomas Friedman last month in his article, "Martin Luther Al-King?":

... It's hard to know what's more disturbing: the barbaric sectarian murders by Sunnis and Shiites in Iraq, or the deafening silence with which these mass murders are received in the Muslim world. How could it be that Danish cartoons of Muhammad led to mass violent protests, while unspeakable violence by Muslims against Muslims in Iraq every day evokes about as much reaction in the Arab-Muslim world as the weather report? Where is the Muslim Martin Luther King? Where is the "Million Muslim March" under the banner: "No Shiites, No Sunnis: We are all children of the Prophet Muhammad."

... If Arab Muslims can summon the will to protest only against the insults of "the foreigner" but never the injuries inflicted by their own on their own, how can they ever generate a modern society or democracy -- which is all about respecting and protecting minority voices and unorthodox views?

Although I almost always disagree with Friedman's politics, and often his views, in this case he's right. Whether we call it the "Curse of the Jew" or a syndrome of another name, without "a Muslim counternihilism strategy that delegitimizes the mass murder of Muslims by Muslims," there is no hope for decent politics in Iraq or anywhere else in the Muslim world.
