More On Edwards' Potty-Mouthed Bloggers

Topics: Political News and commentaries

As Richard posted yesterday, Edwards' blogmistress Amanda Marcotte resigned:

Simply put, Amanda Marcotte is - nuts, her political leaning has now gone beyond performance and has finally become a mental health issue. Her political ideology has become so unmoored from external reality that it serves as little more than an expression of her personal feelings about herself. Take a look at how she frames herself as a victim, right out of the chute...

... Poor Amanda Marcotte needs all our prayers and sympathies, and of course - anger management classes, while in rehab to receive treatment for ""poor me syndrome." Once she's out of rehab, perhaps she might consider learning how to speak and right without having to use vulgarities and profanity to express herself, something she apparently was never taught as a child.

While I believed at the time that Richard had satisfactorily addressed Marcotte's use of the 'victimhood card' (because I art woman - nasty men in the Catholic Church are suppressing me) in her resignation, I have changed my mind since reading what The Anchoress had to say about Marcotte. While saying that she's "very, very, very...very late to the "big" story that one of John Edwards' blogmistresses (now both) has resigned her position," The Anchores says she thinks it a shame because she wanted Marcotte to keep on and either raise herself up to the challenge or crash and burn with a good try. Marcotte should have taken the opportunity to flourish or fail on the strength of her writing, alone, not on any "movement" within the right side of the blogosphere or any carrying on by aggrieved persons:
Now it appears this blogger victim has resigned due to oppressive right-wing forces, patriarchal, theological and otherwise, who were trying to silence her because she has a vagina and is a "strong woman," or something. It's the man and the church, keeping women down, like they always have before.
What comes next is nothing less than a thorough demolition of Marcotte's whinny "I am victim" crap:

Except, of course, they have not. Not historically and not as the world would have you read it. But why look at reality, when it's so much easier to whine?

I gotta tell you...I'm also weary as hell of the "these people are trying to keep me down because I'm a strong/because I'm a woman/because I'm "speaking truth to power,"/because I'm so spectacular, daring, dangerous, bold, provocative, blah, blah, blah" crapola, too.

Newsflash: writing about the big, bad, patriarchal, wimmyn-oppressing Christian church and the "tiny penises" and "dry vaginas" of those who dwell therein is not particularly daring, dangerous, bold or provocative. The chances are, Madonna already said that stuff publicly back in the 1980's, and if not, well...let's face it: saying that sort of nonsense to willing consumers of same...that's about as daring, provocative and innovative as, oh...hating George W. Bush, which is the safest game in town. If you want to provoke, live on the edge and speak truth to power, etc, try writing similar nonsense about the "women-hating, oppressive, patriarchal, tiny penis'd Islamofascists" and see how well that plays for you.

I think this blogger, as I wrote about Mo Dowd a long time ago, needs to spend less time thinking about her vagina and more time considering her uterus:

Do read all of the piece .... As The Anchoress points out, there's nothing wrong with disagreement, but there really is no reason for the mouth-foaming invectives so prevalent in Marcottes posts. It is not her disagreement with conservatives that got her into trouble, it was her hateful anti-Christian, mouth-foaming language. The only real victims here are the people Marcotte bombarded with hate and vulgarities.
