Here's another very good read by David Thompson with more on grievance politics and the cultivation of pretentious 'sensitivity' by the political left:

I was once asked why I didn't have more empathy with the political left. "I don't dislike myself enough," I said, largely in jest. But as time has passed this offhand remark seems less flippant. I've often wondered at what point a political leaning becomes a performance, then a pantomime, and finally a mental health issue. At some point ideology can be so unmoored from external reality that it serves as little more than an expression of a person's feelings about themselves.

absolutely on the money. the self-loathing-american schtick is a mental disorder.....but i also think it's "catching". look at seattle, now there's a classic example of a whole city full of clueless fools. all liberals, all whiney, all useless... all the time. if you need to see just how bad it can be check out horsesass.org ...need i say more?
this site is run by a jewish guy that hates everything american and actually sides with islamofascists every time. he thinks they really mean no harm. he has nothing to base this crazy theory on except if bush hates them they MUST be good.
