Hillary's 'Oprahesq' Listening Tour

Topics: Political News and commentaries

I like Ace's take on Hillary's, "yawn", announcement that she's forming a presidential exploratory committee [If you are a bit bulimic and want to purge yourself of whatever you last ate, just listen to this typical Democratic BS spin that she's not really starting a campaign though, she's really starting to have a conversation - with us (ugh!)]:

The "listening" crap is so Oprah. She sort of had to do it in New York, as she'd never lived there, so had to claim she was "listening" to what the people of New York might want. Otherwise voters might get the kooky idea she was just an opportunistic carpetbagger who had engineered Daniel Patrick Monynihan's retirement just to run in an open seat in one of the three states liberal enough to even consider voting for her.

So the "listening tour" made strategic sense there, I guess. She could always rebut the carpetbagger charge by saying, "Hey, I'm listening to the people. And who knows more about the problems of average New Yorkers than average New Yorkers themselves?"

Idiotic, but whatever.

There's more at Hot Air where you'll find this exit question:
Is Hillary the best we can hope for among the Democratic nominees? Obama talks bipartisanship but votes a deep, rich blue. Edwards is running on a platform of class warfare. Of Gore let us say no more. Who’s left? Unless Mark Warner jumps in and figures out a way to beat all of them by running to their right, Hillary’s probably the most “conservative” (i.e., nominally hawkish) candidate in the pack. Terrifying.
Damned good summary of the Democratic field, and indeed, terrifying. Our country and our civilization is in a war for its survival against a determined uncompromising enemy - radical Islam. And all we come up with on the opposition side is this?
