Hard Left Kos Argues Against Bush Impeachment?

Topics: Political News and commentaries

Sounds like a secret diversion to me. The Kos kids are going to go nuts over this:

We have one year to make our case for 2008 to the American people. We need to show not just that we deserve to hold on the Congress, but that we should be given the White House as well.

2008 won't work, since as an election year, all meaningful legislative work will grind to a halt and the press will be focused on the horse race (as will we). So 2007 is it.

We can spend 2007 either pushing impeachment (which isn't as popular as Zogby claims, see Bowers' piece), or we can use it educating the American people about what a Democratic government would look like -- passing meaningful legislation that would improve their lives like the minimum wage, health care reform, ethics reform, stem cell research funding, policies that help families and the middle class.

Impeachment does none of that.

Rational thought coming from the Left? I'm lovin.. it. As for "passing meaningful legislation that would improve their lives like the minimum wage, health care reform, ethics reform, stem cell research funding, policies that help families and the middle class," well, I'm for a good bit of that too, as are most Republicans and Independents. Our differences lie in the nuances and specifics of these elements. Could it be that we might have more in common than differences?

Irresponsible stem cell research of fetal cells (only because it's unethical and unnecessary - given the progress of other sources for stem cells) and certainly the "specifics" of health care reform, are probably the main areas of differences to be worked out between the "sides" as we go down the legislative road to accomplish these needed reforms. Yet, the Kos argument against impeachment offers not only common sense, but opens a door, should others on both sides opt to venture in, to something we haven't had in our political discourse for a very long time - comity and common sense, which can only lead to something good for America.

Certainly Kos is up to some secret trick, or there's another shoe to drop, somewhere soon. Of course I could be reading this all wrong, but we all have to admit that it would really be nice to have us all working together for the betterment of our country instead of bickering over agendas and finding fault with each other. Having different opinions is not a problem, its those damned hidden and personal agendas that get in the way.

One more thing - if only we could all get on the same page to win this war against radical Islam so that we can continue having these discussions. Having to check with the Sharia police before speaking or writing would make it hard for us to continue writing our opinions. I understand Iran just shut down much of the Internet access in that country and looking at the wrong website could cost you your head.
