God Favors the Bold
Topics: IraqAs we're seeing, there's big goings-on about the Iraq Study Group today, and everyone will be picking it apart. As has already been leaked out, in Washington fashion, it's basically more training, pressure on the Iraqis to get organized (golly gee - what a great idea), a slow withdrawal (it mentions doing so "responsibly," which leaves much for interpretation in accordance with various political agendas and degrees of common sense), and talks with Iran and Syria (which makes about as much sense as Neville Chamberlain's discussions with Hitler).
However, Jules Grittenden writes that none of it really matters - what matters more is what happened yesterday, and what it says about what will happen tomorrow - and that none of that was very confidence-inspiring. He begins by saying, "First, let's dispense with the crap," and it's worth a click to read it all.
