"Things Only Evil And Inhuman..."

Topics: Understanding Islam

On another Hyscience thread: (http://www.hyscience.com/archives/2006/11/moderate_muslim_3.php) it was posted that one Jamal Miftah, a resident of Tulsa, Oklahoma, who wrote a letter to the editor at TulsaWorld.com against al-Qaeda and Islamic terrorism, was kicked-out of his Mosque, and threatened with violence by his fellow Muslims, who say that his letter is "anti-Muslim."

While one Muslim man, who had the courage to adhere to his humanity and his conscience first, than to the dictates of his Mullahs, has been openly "repudiated" by his Mosque for having spoken against Osama Bin Laden, the terrorists, and the on-going violence; for having spoken according to what he feels is the true meaning of Islam written in his heart; and his life has even been threatened; thousands of other Muslim protesters in Constantinople (Istanbul) have gathered daily to protest the upcoming visit of Pope Benedict XVI to Turkey, being "offended" by the now notorious quotation by His Holiness of the words of a long dead Byzantine Emperor, Manuel II Paleologos, who said almost a thousand years ago, quote:

"Show me just what Mohammed brought that was new, and there you will find things only evil and inhuman, such as his command to spread by the sword the faith he preached."

To "spread by the sword the faith he preached"... Just ask the Serbians, and the Greeks, and other people of the Balkans if their experience under Muslim domination was nothing short of "things only evil and inhuman" as Paleologos so eminently puts it!

But even today! Ironically, if you read the above words of Byzantine Emperor Manuel Paleologos, quoted by His Holiness in his academic discourse at the University of Regensburg, while you watch the nightly news: the carnage of Muslim against fellow Muslim in Iraq, the barbaric beheadings of innocent people, all the indiscriminate murder and violence, the suicide bombings killing innocent Muslim women and children and the elderly along with men at local markets and Mosques, the headless bodies of Muslims found floating on the Tigris all showing signs of bestial torture; all the needless rivers of blood, all the children murdered in Israel on their way to school; all that is even now being perpetrated in the name of Allah, Mohammed, and Islam; the Genocide in Darfur...one cannot but come to the sad conclusion that the words of Manuel II Paleologos are as hauntingly true today as they were almost a thousand years ago - no matter whom they may offend!

"Things only evil and inhuman..."

Wouldn't any decent human being , regardless of their Faith, agree that the litany of horrors mentioned above that we witness on our television screens day to day, amply qualify as "things only evil and inhuman" ?!?!

In Isaiah it is written: "Can a mother forget the baby at her breast and have no compassion on the child she has borne? Though she may forget, I will not forget you! Saith the Lord" Yet, apparently myriad Muslim women have forgotten! Isn't it a "thing only evil and inhuman" for Muslims mothers to "have no compassion of the child she has borne" and send them out as human bombs to blow themselves up in order to kill innocent strangers, men women and other children, whom they do not know, and who have personally done them no harm; many of them Muslims like themselves?!?!

Isn't it a "thing only evil and inhuman" to indoctrinate a child since Kindergarten in "HATRED"?!?! Teaching them that there is no hope, future, or fulfillment in their lives other than being "Shahada" - simple tools to be used, as if just another "manufactured" Kazam rocket, to perpetuate the violence and the conflict; while such as Yasser Arafat, have lined their pockets with hundreds of millions of dollars amidst the perpetual chaos and the never-ending carnage while the Palestinians, and many other Muslims, live in hunger and in muck, literally eating shit?!?! (http://www.pmw.org.il/ASK%20FOR%20DEATH.htm)

Isn't the daily violence in Iraq, the needless death of hundreds, mostly fellow Muslims, a "thing only evil and inhuman"?!?

Or how about the dousing of four fellow Muslims with kerosene in Baghdad, and burning them, agonizingly, alive? Isn't that a "thing only evil and inhuman"?!?!

All the unceasing torrents of blood being poured in the name of Islam, all the barbarity, the unspeakable cruelty and horrors, all the butchery...aren't they an abhorrence to God, "things only evil and inhuman"?!?!

It is the ultimate irony that the Islamists categorize their fellow brothers the Jews, Sons of Abraham, brothers of Ishmael their father; and the Christians, brought into the fold by Jesus, whom they consider second only to their Mohammed; "pigs and monkeys," "cattle to be slaughtered by Muslims." Yet, in the unwitting ultimate Islamic insult which every day they bring upon themselves, it is ultimately the blood of Muslims which is being licked by dogs off the streets of Baghdad; hungry dogs with nothing else to eat than Muslim offal!

Perhaps that should be a sign to some. Perhaps some Muslims do repudiate all this senseless violence. One thing for sure is direly needed though, just as Pope Benedict has called for, and that is for Islam to carry on something similar to the Vatican II Council and come to grip with its role in a modern, pluralistic, world, and learn to live in peace, "Salam," with the rest of us inhabiting this God's earth!

It is high time that instead of such compliant voices being heard in Islam as in Istanbul, like the "bellowing of cattle being driven to the slaughterhouse," that the true Heroes of Islam, like Salman Rushdie, and like our Hero Jamal from Tulsa, come forth and denounce all this barbaric, animalistic, inhumane, savagery being carried out in the name of Islam!!!

Every verse of the Koran begins with: "Blessed be Allah, the Merciful and Compassionate." Shouldn't Muslims emulate their God, and be "Merciful and Compassionate" even as "Allah is Merciful and Compassionate"?!?! I dare any Mullah to contradict the self-evident veracity of such a Theological proposition... and to live up to it, for a change!!!
