On Iran, A Speech That President Bush Needs To Make - But Isn't, And Negotiating With Experts On Al-Taqiyya

Saul Singer, author of the book, Confronting Jihad: Israel's Struggle & the World After, offers up an imagined speech that should be made by George Bush, drawing on material from Mark Steyn, Amir Taheri, Arthur Herman, Patrick Clawson, Michael Eisenstadt and Memri.org.

Although the speech itself is imagined, the material and facts within it are real and highly relevant to the current situation in the ME involving Iran:

Iran is actively supporting terrorist militias that are attacking Israel and attempting to make Iraq, Lebanon and Afghanistan ungovernable. The regime's purpose is clear: to intimidate free nations into standing by as it develops nuclear weapons - after which it will further escalate its campaign of terror with impunity. As Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad explained on September 28, Iran "has the capacity to quickly become an invincible global power. This will happen as soon as it achieves advanced technologies."

Please take the time to read it all; it's a perspective that needs to be considered by everyone living in the West who desires to continue living outside an Islamic caliphate conjured up by Iran and its radical Islamic friends.

Readers will find an intelligent opposing view on engaging Iran with dialog at the WaPo (of course), that suggests there are four issues Americans can start having a dialog about with Iran to get the ball rolling.

However, one must keep in mind that not-so-little matter of al-taqiyya and Iran's history of deceit.

After reading Singer's imagined speech, you'll appreciate it all the more after learning that Russia continues to provide Iran with advanced weapons systems that will be used to protect their nuclear facilities from preemptive attack: Russia delivers air defense missile system to Iran.

Other discouraging news from Iran includes:

Iranian Student News Agency reported that President Ahmadinejad stated that West should understand Iran would never kneel in front of their demands.

The International Herald Tribune reported that Ahmadinejad described U.S. President George W. Bush as "evil," adding that justice requires that Iran face down U.S. arrogance.

And the Iraq Study Group believes we can gain from talking with these people?

Perhaps, as long as we recognize that absolutely nothing they say nor anything they agree to do can be believed (remember al-taqiyya). However, given the context of these parameters, what can possibly be accomplished other than to display weakness and lack of national resolve on our part?

One last thought. What do you think of just going ahead and bombing Iran now? Sadly, it may be our only real choice.
