14 Contractors Kidnapped In Iraq (Updated)

A TOTAL of 14 security contractors, including four Americans, have been abducted in an ambush on a convoy in southern Iraq.More here, with additional Iraq updates.ABC News said the contractors, who specialise in convoy security, were travelling near the southern city of Nasariyah.
The abducted Americans worked for Crescent Security Group, a Kuwait-based company, and were with a convoy driving from an area close to the Kuwaiti border to an Italian base near Nasariyah, according to ABC News.
Ali Base, one of the largest US-run air operation centres in Iraq, lies just outside Nasariyah.

Update: Fighting in area where security contractors were taken hostage - the Crescent Security Group convoy had been stopped at a checkpoint on Thursday by Iraqi men, some of them wearing police uniforms.
