Wow - How Did I Miss This: 'We're Muslim-Americans - kill us, too'

Topics: Understanding Islam

Somehow I missed this one on the 20th of this month, but this is yet another one of those must reads. After all, we're always asking for moderate Muslims to stand up and be heard, and when one does, especially in a big way, he damned well deserves our attention, respect, and thanks - albeit as an American citizen we should also damned well expect it. From the JP: We're Muslim-Americans - kill us, too

(By ASLAM ABDULLAH, Islamic Society of Nevada) The leader of al-Qaida in Iraq, Abu Hamza al-Muhajer, recently issued a decree to its supporters: Kill at least one American in the next two weeks "using a sniper rifle, explosive or whatever the battle may require."

Well, Abu Hamza al-Muhajer, I am an American too. Count me as the one of those you have asked your supporters to kill.

I am not alone. There are thousands of Muslims with me in Las Vegas, and many more millions in America, who are proud Americans and who are ready to face your challenge. You hide in your caves and behind the faces of civilians in Afghanistan and Iraq. You don't show your faces and you have no guts to face Muslims. You thrive on the misery of thousands of Muslim youth and children who are victims of despotism, poverty and ignorance.

During the past two decades, you have brought nothing but shame and disaster to your religion and your world.

You said "not to drop your weapons," not to let "your enemies rest until each one of you kills at least one American within a period that does not exceed 15 days."

But I invite you to surrender, to seek forgiveness from God almighty for the senseless killing you and your supporters are involved in and repent for everything you have done.

You say that the word of God is the highest. Yes, it is. But you are not worthy of it. You have abandoned God and you have started worshipping your own satanic egos that rejoice at the killing of innocent people. You don't represent Muslims or, for that matter, any decent human being who believes in the sanctity of life.

Many among us American Muslims have differences with our administration on domestic and foreign issues, just like many other Americans do. But the plurality of opinions does not mean that we deprive ourselves of the civility that God demands from us. America is our home and will always be our home. Its interests are ours, and its people are ours. When you talk of killing Americans, you first have to kill 6 million or so Muslims who will stand for every American's right to live and enjoy the life as commanded by God.

Let's hope this isn't al-taqiyya, and this is only the begining of "Americans that are Muslim" (I despise the use of hyphenated nationalities). Assuming this is for real and not deception, be sure and read all of the rest of al-Muhajer's piece.

And no sooner than I get the word al-taqiyya out of my mouth, my first double check on the Islamic Society of Nevada comes up with a zinger that appears to substantiate my doubts as to the sincerity of al-Muhajer's comments - this could be deception.

From a commenter at The Anchoress we learn that:

Aslam Abdullah is the director of the Islamic Society of Nevada, which is the state level organization of the Islamic Society of North America.

Here is an LGF page of links to the highjinks of the Islamic Society of North America (including, but not limited to, putting on a seminar on how to beat one's wife).

In addition, Aslam Abdullah's state-level organization has a website with a "Links" page which prominently links CAIR and the Muslim American Society, which is the American version of the Muslim Brotherhood.

Aslam seems like he may be a good guy himself, but he affiliates himself with bad people.

But, even though he is good about not calling for violence he has written articles which are easily available through Google, wherein he argues that the War on Terrorism is a "stealth crusade" by the Bush Administration; a "war on Islam".

Yes, that's right, he says the Bush Administration is waging a war on Islam.

Couple that with the Faqs page at the Islamic Society of Nevada website which says that Jihad is permissible as defense of Islam, and I would say Aslam is probably making a case for violence against America, but who knows really?

Aslam has also written an article which calls the Danish Mohammed cartoons "emotional terrorism" and an affront to free speech.

I have a funny feeling about this guy.

I think it is very unwise to simply put forth an article like his as a positive, until you have really researched him. We have run across an awful lot of Muslim leaders who speak out of two sides of their face.

Well, the "moderate Muslim" hope may have been a little premature, but I guess we can always hope that the guy's heart was in his words, somewhere down deep. On the other hand ....
