Was North Korea's Nuke 'More Fizz Than Pop'? Where We Go From Here?

Topics: North Korea

Kim Jong Il Team America publicity shot.jpgSome experts are apparently considering the possibility that North Korea's nuclear device - if it was indeed nuclear, suffered what experts call "a fizzle" - when the fissile material that provides the bang, likely plutonium in North Korea's case, detonates only partly. In other words, it was likely more fizz than pop, and the short answer to the question of nuke or no nuke is that Captain Kim likely has a dud in his hands (I won't extrapolate on this any further).

Still, dud or no dud, the question of how America will respond to North Korea's now obvious intention to explode a nuclear device, is still relevant. On this, Henry Lamb offers some interesting background to what got us here and where we should go from here. I particularly like the part about the "bomb the hell out of Pyongyang, with special attention to every building Kim Jung-il is known to frequent, and every known missile base in the country," and the "seismic ripples to be heard around the world."
