Terrorist's Lawyer Gets Wrist Slap (Updated)
Topics: Dhimmitude
For her part in aiding the global jihad by disseminating messages from imprisoned World Trade Center bomber Omar Abdel-Rahman, radical leftist lawyer Lynne Stewart has been given an outrageously light sentence - 28 Months.
She had faced up to 30 years in prison, she should have been shot for treason during a time that her country is at war.
Redstate calls it right - "Judge Whimps Out"
Don Surber writes that should anyone need further proof "of the leftist slant of American reporters, one need only look at Tom Hays of the Associated Press reporting on Lynne Stewart awaiting sentencing for aiding and abetting terrorism. His sympathetic portrayal of her ironically is as sexist as it is lefty. ... The lefty press's embrace of this enabler of anarchists is as preposterous as it is passionate, with Gore Vidal asking the judge to "side with our Bill of Rights" by not imprisoning Ms. Stewart." Suber says of the sentence - "She is not charged with being a grandmother. She was not busted for baking cookies. She was convicted of abusing her lawyer-client privilege to help a terrorist communicate with his followers."

Update:
CQ condemns the sentence in, "Why The War On Terror Can't Be A Law Enforcement Action":
Today's sentencing of Lynne Stewart, who turned herself into a conduit for an Islamic terrorist who had already conspired to attack the United States once, demonstrates the fecklessness of pursuing terrorists through the civil courts. A federal judge sentenced Stewart to 28 months in prison for assisting Omar Abdel Rahman in activating his terrorist network while the US held him in custody -- and then temporarily released her on her own recognizance...... The government took this case to the appropriate venue; Stewart is an American citizen and committed a grievous crime. However, Judge Koeltl showed why the law-enforcement model will never defeat terrorism. Here we have an important part of a communication chain meant to instigate murder on a global scale, and the judge sentences her to 1/15th of the possible sentence. Koeltl waxed on about Stewart's previous good works, all of which would have amounted to zero comfort to anyone lost in a terrorist attack she enabled. In fact, we still don't know that there hasn't been an attack based on that communication.:
Via Hot Air": "There's a George Soros connection - Soros Funded Stewart Defense." Also - Judge Koeltl is a Clinton appointee and a former assistant special prosecutor during Watergate."
